Looking for an Osaka tourist attraction?
Visit a local home for 2-3 hours and enjoy home-cooked flavors that cannot be experienced at a restaurant.
So you will arrive at Kansai International Airport and will be in Osaka, the delicious gateway city of Japan. Looking for something different to do besides checking off famous tourists attractions? Need something that the whole family or all your friends will be able to enjoy? Going on a Nagomi Visit may just be your answer. It can be a great introduction to the local culture when you first arrive in Japan, or a surprise to celebrate your journey at the end of your trip.
Not just a tourist attraction
All ages can enjoy
The experience does not end with your trip
See a life-size replica of the workshop where Momofuku Ando created the first instant ramen. (Now you know where the famous restaurant name came from.) Visitors of the museum can also make their own cup noodle. A must visit place for foodies.
Known as Japan’s longest shopping street where you can see a glimpse of everyday life in Osaka.
Though within walking distance from the bustling Osaka and Umeda station, Nakazakicho retains its retro Showa period atmosphere because many of the traditional-style buildings still remain. However, what attracts locals to this area are the unique independent cafes and vintage shops found in these charming historic buildings.
Your host will be waiting for you at the station.
Say "hajimemashite" or "nice to meet you" with a smile when you meet your host at the station. Greeting in Japanese might help to break the ice.
The walk to your host's home is your first opportunity to really see Japan from the local’s eyes. Ask your hosts and you may get a chance to wander the local grocery store aisles with them before heading home.
Once you arrive dinner is ready to begin. If you are interested in seeing how they are preparing the food, just ask and most likely your host will be delighted to share. Osaka is well known for its distinct regional cuisine and though some of the dishes can be eaten at street stalls and restaurants, there is a whole range of dishes that can only be experienced in a local home so enjoy the special experience.
The relationship with your host often times continues on after the Nagomi Visit. Many of our participants decide to meet again before leaving Japan. Some hosts might even find themselves in your hometown months later during their vacation.
We build friendships not business transactions.
Nagomi Visit is a non-profit organization and not an online marketplace because our goal is for you to meet that friend or family you haven't met. We have seen many hosts and guests become like family after their Nagomi Visit and we want to make sure the next person will be you.
Local foodie and family volunteers
Our hosts are from all walks of life. Visit local families just like you with similar age kids, find foodies who will share their knowledge of Japanese culture. Miss your pets back home while traveling? Find a host who loves dogs just like you. They may have studied abroad in your hometown, are learning to speak your mother tongue, or want to share their traditional Japanese tea ceremony or calligraphy skills.
All hosts are prepared to speak English.
Many hosts have acquired much of their language skill from travel, study, or work. Each host may speak at different levels and speak other languages.
Total price per adult: 3,500 yen
*Children under 5 are free
Everything about our organization and how we run it is about building friendships, not business transactions so the price is intentionally fixed not to influence the guest and host dynamic. We intend to keep the program affordable, sustainable, and always about sharing.
More than 300 hosts and 1300 guests have chosen to be a part of the Nagomi experience.
When we were leaving the metro our Nagomi host was already waiting and waving to us. After 3 weeks in Japan it was very nice to speak with locals, to have the questions answered about the daily life in Japan which arose during our travelling here. I can truly recommend every one in Japan to do a Nagomi visit!

What a highlight to my trip, it's one that I will never forget. The hosts were lovely, friendly, welcoming and funny. I would have loved to stay longer but just like everything, it must come to an end, as we departed we exchanged details and now I have lovely friends in Japan...Looking forward to seeing them again and of course! doing another Nagomi visit when I make my way back to Japan.
