Describe your host?She was very warm and welcoming! We appreciated her and her family letting us join them for dinner. She was able to speak English well, and both her father and son were able and willing to communicate with us using both English and Japanese. My kids said it was a highlight of their trip. We are so glad that this service exists!
What did you talk about during your Nagomi Visit?We talked about each other’s families and experiences with language and different customs and countries. Her son showed us the school projects he is doing and we talked about our hobbies as well.
Did you make any new discoveries?Yes, we learned what it is like to be a student in the Japanese school system. We also learned how to make Takoyaki!
What did you eat?Takoyaki, vegetables, and cake dessert.
If you participated with others, what were their thoughts about the Nagomi Visit?My kids had a really good time. They were glad to be able to connect with a local family. They laughed at jokes, ate Japanese food, and felt included.
What was your most memorable moment?I think it was interacting with [my host son], who was very energetic and fun to see all his projects and how he interacted affectionately with his family.
